14Trips Photo of The Week

Every Wednesday, 14Trips features our favorite Photo of the Week from our growing user-generated Flickr pool. Join the 14Trips Photo Travelog and if you post one of your favorite images there, it might end up here on a coming week in our blog.

Today’s photo comes from Rusti and Gug Morandin:

Thousand Origami Cranes

“We saw a group of Thousand Origami Cranes held together by strings at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Southern Kyoto, Japan. An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes and places them at shrines will be granted a wish by the cranes, such as long life or recovery from an illness. Also considered a symbol of peace, strands of cranes are prevalent in the city of Hiroshima.”
