Deal Dissector: Hotel Terra Jackson Hole’s “Suite Getaway” Package

In the heart of Wyoming’s famed Teton Village, flanked by mountain ranges and gurgling streams, lies Hotel Terra Jackson Hole. This luxurious boutique property boasts chic décor, in-room fireplaces and sweeping views of the Tetons and Snake River. It’s also an eco-friendly hotel, so you can feel good about sleeping in the 100 percent organic cotton sheets, drinking the fair-trade organic coffee and gazing out the Energy Star windows.
Unfortunately, what you won’t feel good about is the hotel’s “Suite Getaway” package, which bundles three simple items and marks them up almost $70. According to the package’s description, $479 a night (with a three-night minimum stay) will net you lodging in a one-bedroom suite, plus a 50-minute massage for you and your partner in the couple’s treatment room at the hotel spa. Here’s the issue—that same one-bedroom suite is normally just $320 a night, and two 60-minute massages in the couple’s treatment room are $270 total. Thus, simply opting out of the package and booking a three-night stay in the same room with the same spa treatments will cost $69 less—not to mention, you and your significant other will each have an extra 10 minutes to relish your massages!
Here at Halogen Guides Travel, we’re all about eco-friendliness, but we think economic-friendliness is pretty important, too. If simply picking up the phone to book your own spa appointments saves you $70, do it…and commend yourself for thinking “green.”
